FAQ
I've never used a pet sitter before. What do I need to do to arrange for services?
You can call us at 1-888-DOGSITS or (845) 803-0815, email us by using the contact
page on this site or email us directly at info@preciouspetz.com to set up a free
consultation. A sitter will come to your home to meet with you and your precious
pets, go over your pets routine and what needs to be done while you are away,
answer any questions you may have and fill out a service agreement and veterinary
release form. At this time you will need to provide two sets of keys. One will be
used by your sitter to access your home while you are away and the other will be
kept in the office. Please keep in mind even if you have a garage opener or alarm
code, in the event of a power outage your sitter would not be able to provide care
for your pets without a key.
When is payment due?
For pet sitting services the fee is required in advance to hold your reservation.
This will be due at the initial consultation. If you would like to make your deposit
after the initial consultation that is fine also, but we can not guarantee you a
reservation until after the deposit is made. The balance will be due on the first day
services. For your convenience we accept cash, check, or credit card payable
through paypal. For daily dog walking clients payment is due on the first day of
service each week.
Do you provide care in your home or mine?
Pet sitting services are provided in the comfort of your own home.
How much notice do I need to give you to arrange for a pet sitter or dog walker to care
for my pet?
During holidays and school vacations we book up quickly so it is preferable if you
book services as early as possible. During the rest of the year 2-4 weeks notice is
usually fine. Please feel free to call us if you need last minute care also. If we have
availability we will be happy to accommodate you.
What kind of pets do you care for?
We care for all types of pets. If we don't have experience with your type of pet we
will be honest with you and ask that you show us and give us detailed instructions
on the care for this pet.
Are there any type of pets you do not provide care for?
Aggressive animals and pets that have a history of biting. Also, pets that have great
medical needs. These pets would be better served by being boarded at a
veterinarian that could provide round the clock care.
How many visits do you provide each day?
Typically, for adult dogs we provide 3 visits a day. This consists of a morning,
midday and evening visit. However if you would like more visits per day we can
arrange for that or if your dog has access to a doggie door 2 visits a day are
acceptable. For daily dog walking clients typically one visit a day is provided,
however if you would like more visits that can also be arranged. For cats and other
small animals we typically provide one visit a day.
Does one or more sitters provide care while I am away?
One sitter will be assigned for the length of your reservation. We find this provides
consistency and allows your pet and sitter to bond more easily. You will meet your
sitter at the initial consultation.
What if my pet becomes ill while I am away?
At the initial consultation we provide a veterinary release form for you to fill out. In
the event your pet does become ill or injured this gives us permission to bring them
to your vet for care.
Are you insured and bonded?
Yes
Can you provide references?
Yes, these will be provided at the initial consultation.
